Ive got an old packard motor no idea what it came out of.
there are numbers on the rear of the block.

440275-A
Does that mean anything or is there another way to tell what it came from. Its an 8 cylinder.

This is a 1956 352 V8, most likely out of a Clipper or a Hudson/Nash.
